This product is an upgrade to the Distance Assistant and requires our Distance API to function fully. If you have not purchased our Distance Assistant in the past, you may be interested in our Combo Package
Programming an efficient, robust radius-based search quickly is a daunting task. The Radius Assistant will help you pull out all the geometric stops holding you back from completing your application.
How does the Radius Assistant work? It works by returning the northern and southern most lines of latitude, as well as the eastern and western most lines of longitude at exactly X miles from the specified center point. Everything in that box is essentially X miles or less.
Then, if you need the exact distance - it's a walk in the park, especially if you have the Distance Assistant, the quickest and best way to find the distance between two points. Finding all points within an X-mile radius has never been so simple!
Note that this type of distance calculation is often called the "Greater Circle" or "As the Crow Flies" method and can easily be employed to construct "Nearest Dealer Locator" software.
Full documentation and code samples are included.
Java, PHP, C++, Perl, Visual Basic, C# source code and SQL scripts are available.
100% UNIX, Linux, Macintosh, AS/400, and Microsoft Windows compatible.
NOTE: This product is a Radius API used by programmers to find a list of ZIP Codes in a radius. It is not a software application and does not include a User's Interface. ZIP Code Download has ZIP Code Radius Software available for customers without the programming knowledge necessary to use the API.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Radius Assistant?
A. In it's most basic state - it's a trig formula that finds the lat/long lines running X miles north, south, east and west of a center point.
Q. How does it access the database?
A. It doesn't. You simply pass a lat/long coordinate in along with a distance in miles.
Q. How do I get the lat/long coordinates?
A. You will typically get that info from a ZIP Code database using a data access query.
Q. Does it come with a database?
A. No. You will need a database with latitude and longitude coordinates. If you already have one, you can use your own. If you don't, we have several to choose from. Check out our ZIP Code Database or Postal Code Database product lines.
Q. Why do I need it?
A. If you plan to have a Nearest Dealer Locator on your website or in a piece of software, this will make your the process amazingly efficient. It will also reduce the processing time for the Distance Assistant.
